Title: App launcher issue

User Impact: Users may be unable to view some app launcher tiles within Outlook on the web.

More info: Affected tiles may include SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Skype for Business, Office Online, and custom app launchers. Exchange Online app launcher tiles are not affected by this issue. While we're focused on remediation, users can access the affected services from the Microsoft Online Portal at https://portal.office.com, or by navigating directly to their corresponding URLs.

Current status: We've confirmed that the fixes applied to our patching systems have resolved the issues that delayed our deployment of the fix to all systems. We're continuing to redeploy the patch to restore service for all affected users. The current round of patching is approximately 30% complete. However, because multiple rounds of patching have occurred, the majority of users (anywhere from 80 to over 90 percent) should no longer be experiencing impact. We're expecting the deployment to complete for all affected users by Thursday, March 9, 2017, but the vast majority of users should experience service restoration before then.

Scope of impact: A few customers have reported this issue, and our analysis indicates that some of your users who are attempting to use the app launcher in Outlook on the web may be impacted.

Start time: Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 1:00 AM UTC

Preliminary root cause: A recent certificate update contained a configuration issue which prevented the certificate from being installed on a subset of systems that host Outlook on the web. This resulted in app launcher tiles not displaying correctly.
